ACT II · THE THESIS

Every ingredient in this jar pays people to leave trees alive.

None of our botanicals are plantation crops. Shea grows in farmed parkland. Marula and baobab are wild-harvested from standing trees on communal land. Green rooibos grows in one mountain range on earth. Buying them keeps forests standing; that is the entire idea.

One mountainrange on earth

Green rooibos grows commercially nowhere else on the planet. The knowledge of the plant belonged to the Khoikhoi and San centuries before a cosmetics industry existed. In 2019 that knowledge was legally recognised: the world's first industry-wide benefit-sharing agreement.

Cracked by hand, because no machinedoes it better

The women of the Eudafano cooperative are named commercial partners and expert producers. Marula kernels are cracked by hand, and the oil they yield stays stable for 32 hours where olive oil lasts under five.

The tree is worthmore standing

Shea grows in farmed parkland, not plantations. Twelve hours of women's hands per batch, knowledge passed mother to daughter, and every jar keeps standing trees standing.

ACT IV · THE RITUAL

Serum, then oil, then balm

Water first, oil to carry it, butter to seal it. Three steps, layered the way skin actually accepts them.

01 · THE SERUM

Water first

Green rooibos, water-phase. Aspalathin exists in no other plant on earth; the serum carries it where oils cannot go.

CEDERBERG · GREEN, UNFERMENTED
02 · THE OIL

Then the oil

Marula, cold-pressed, cushioning and fast to absorb. Silky, never greasy; the cooperative's name is on every lot.

03 · THE BALM

Seal it in

Unrefined shea, whipped, melting at skin temperature. The occlusive close that keeps the first two steps where they belong.
